Greetings from Timisoara, Romania!
Hope you all are doing well!
November found me spending a third Thanksgiving in Romania with 18 other Americans, who
are either missionaries or students from the International Bible College. God has been so good
to me this first term on the field! He provided a great place to live in the city, Christian landlords,
a Christian language school teacher, a Romanian Sunday School teacher to serve with, a
pastor and church that helped me get established, and supporters who pray for the ministry!
Before I came to Romania I asked God to give me 1-3 people that I could start discipling in
my first term, and He has opened opportunities to invest in two women in particular. I am
so grateful!
Thank you for praying for the new single missionary lady that stayed with me when she
moved to the field. She found an apartment, purchased a car, started language school
and is already involved in ministry with both our church and the International Bible College!
In September I took vacation time in the mountains here in Romania for some personal
refresh time. Even tucked away in a small town in the mountains I met three deaf people and
was able to talk with them and give gospel tracts. In route to the mountains, I stopped in
Bucharest, the capital city, and briefly saw the Muldoon family who are in their first year on the
field. We are with the same missions agency and have the same goal of reaching Deaf
Romanians for Christ. Please be in prayer for this family. They have three little ones and
are currently learning Romanian.
I finished going through the Romanian Sign Language course of 800 signs! Please pray
for me as I continue building my vocabulary of Romanian Signs. And also for wisdom
when I meet deaf people while out in town, that I can be a light and witness to them, both
with tracts and personal conversation.
The Lord has provided funds for the translation of a discipleship booklet of basic Bible
doctrines which I look forward to using in discipleship with both hearing people and deaf
people. It is about 100 pages long, with 24 lessons, and already God has provided a translator!
Please pray for wisdom as this project starts soon.
As a sixteen-year-old I remember asking God that, whatever He had for me to do in life, please
don’t let it be a desk job. But a desk job is exactly what He gave me first. However, during that
job I learned several valuable lessons for life and ministry and made some good friends! My
greatest joy in ministry, though, has been either evangelism, teaching Bible in a class,
discipling, mentoring or counseling. I continue serving in children’s ministry at our church
and reach out in one-on-one opportunities to encourage women or study the Bible with
them. Recently I met a young woman who comes from an Orthodox background. Some
statistics say 81% of Romanians identify as Romanian Orthodox. Many Romanians have
religion and a belief in God but don’t know Christ as Savior. This young woman and I have
spent many hours together talking about life and the Scriptures. Please pray with me for her
conversion and then also for her discipleship as a new believer.
I am truly grateful for your part in this work!
