The past few weeks have not been uneventful! Just as we arrived at my parents' house for one of our Tuesday evening Bible studies, Dad suddenly began speaking almost entirely unintelligibly. He realized it was happening but just couldn't quite get understandable words out. After talking to our family doctor, an ambulance was called and Dad was taken to the emergency room. After some scans and testing, they found that he had a stroke. Thankfully, he improved after medical treatment. They kept him for a few days to monitor him in case it happened again. We praise the Lord that he is home now and has pretty much recovered, although he is a little weaker after the ordeal. We appreciate your prayers for Dad's health. He has been quite a testimony of God's power to our people and hundreds of others!
Thank you for your prayers for our healing as well. My migraines have been staying away for the most part, but there is still a lot of pain in my neck/base of the skull, which seems to be where the migraines were coming from. It seems to be improving overall, and we are grateful for God's answers to prayers. Please keep them up! Kristy has been feeling better than she has in a while, which is a blessing. We have been having sniffles and colds, but unfortunately, this seems to be the norm these days with so many around us. It is truly a blessing when we are strong and well enough to minister to God's people! Don't take for granted the strength God gives you, and do what He has for you to do with all of your heart!
It is exciting to have some of Gina's family members coming and listening to the Word during our services at their house. Ica (Eeka), Gina's mother-in-law, has returned from Belgium and is living with them. Gina's unsaved husband, Ion (Yone), comes and listens too. I was able to talk very directly to him about receiving Christ as his Savior. He knows the Gospel well but continues to refuse God's grace. Please keep Ion in your prayers. I've attached a picture of him.
Mariana has been doing better. Thank you for praying for her healing. She struggles a lot financially, but God has provided wood for them for heating this winter, even though wood is pretty expensive. Her unsaved husband, Ion, has been sick a lot and hasn't been to our services for a while. Please pray for Ion.
Kristy is continuing English classes with one of her students. It is a blessing that she is a believer, and they enjoy the fellowship as they have their classes.
Simona, the young lady with whom Kristy has been doing Bible studies through the internet, mentioned that her husband (she is not sure of his salvation) has gone with her to some of the church services at the Baptist church she's going to. He has been impressed with the genuine love and care of God's children. Please keep Simona and her husband in your prayers.
We continue to help with translating and children's classes at the Tylers' church in the city. It was a blessing to have brother Tim Clark preach, and I was able to translate for him. He and the Tylers joined us for Sunday lunch. He is the one who saved Dad's life when he had his heart attack 4 years ago. He said he never expected to see Dad alive again, and it was a special blessing for him to be here.
After the severe earthquakes in Turkey, Romania has been having quite a lot of earthquakes as well. Thankfully, they have not been strong in our area; just small trembles here and there. As we consider these disasters, the war in Ukraine that has been going on for over a year, and all of the sicknesses, we remember the Lord's words that these things must come to pass in the last days. May He find us ready for His return! It does allow for more opportunities to share the Gospel with people, and we have heard how God is working in people's hearts through these difficult times. We ran into our elderly neighbor, Ion, the other day, and I was able to witness to him about being prepared for eternity. We pray that people will not just understand the Gospel but will believe on Christ as their personal Savior!
It is encouraging to us to know that you are praying for us and for the people here! God is working through your prayers. We pray that you are enjoying the blessings of serving Him faithfully!
In His service,
Jonathan, Kristy, Cory, and Marci
