There are eight references in the New Testament concerning the “righteousness of God”. Let’s go through them quickly (Rom. 1:16, 17; 3:5, 20-22; 10:1-3; 2 Cor 5:21; James 1:20; 2 Peter 1:1

True righteousness is by God through our faith

To understand Rom 10:6, 7 let’s look at the passage being quoted – Deut. 30:11-14

As Christians, we cannot improve upon the righteousness that God has placed on our account through His Son

I am not saying that a Christian should not want to see holiness in their life. Holiness is not to be an attempt for righteousness, but an act of worship to the One that has already made us holy.
