Why do things move from desire to demand? What emotions drive them?
The Bible is full of examples… Job’s friends, those that want wealth
Our desires in part describe who we are (Prov 23:7)
I desire - I want…
Sometimes it’s about what we are expecting. When things don’t turn out like we are expecting our selfishness sometimes is inflamed or enraged. Our desire is that things go the way we expect
I demand – I must have…
I decide/determine
Why do I judge you? Because you have offended me by not giving me what I want or desire
I destruct/destroy – You are going to pay…
Once we begin to demand the temptation is to MANIPULATE the situation or the person
Now so far all of these began with sinful desires, but there are examples of those that have good desires that become sinful demands
