Sermon 3: How to have a Genuine Relationship with God
Text: Exodus 4-14
Theme: God moves with sovereign authority in man’s heart and is glorified.
This series is about how to have a genuine relationship with God
It starts with salvation
I. God works in man’s heart to show His sovereignty and receive glory (Ex 4:21)
Prov 21:1 The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
There has been much said about God hardening the heart of Pharaoh’s heart. Sadly much of it misses the point
I will use the following verses to help you see the progression: Exodus 4:21; 5:1, 2, 22, 23; 7:3, 4, 10-14; 9:34; 10:1; 14:4, 17
Through God’s providence and sovereignty we can trust Him to accomplish His plan
II. God works in man’s heart for their growth in trusting Him (4:1-9)
I will say in this passage that it is a lot more about God getting Moses to believe rather than the people – in fact, that may just have been a “clever” excuse, to again, avoid God’s plan
