Why study Lamentations?
While we are currently doing a book study of Lamentations you may want to study one or all of the books of the God’s Word
Choose a reading method that suits your learning and interest style best (greatly determined by size of book)
Listen to someone read and follow along
Write the book
Try to identify themes or repeated words, phrases or subjects
Who was the writer?
Who did he write to?
Why did he write?
Read one or two books that will give you the writer, audience, date, etc
The use of a study Bible
Who is the writer?
Many would quickly say “Jeremiah”, but what is the evidence? (2 Chron 35:25; Jer 7:29; 8:21; 9:1, etc)
Why call it Lamentations? (Lam 1:1; 2:1; 4:1)
It is read every year on the 9th day of Ab which is the date of Jerusalem’s destruction both in 586 and 70
