GETTING TO THE HEART OF WHAT THEY ARE SAYING

Lesson 4: Psalm 73 – Getting to the Heart
Text: Psalm 73
Theme: What we say in our frustration reveals what’s in our heart.
? What are some of the alarming statements that Asaph makes in Psalm 73?
? What does this reveal about Asaph’s thinking?
? If someone would make similar comments to us, how should we respond? What should we say or ask?
This is key to the direction of our study
While as Christians we may or may not make the previous statements, we often make statements to people who are struggling that aren’t helpful or hope-filled
What are some of the things WE say?
In Christianity we need to have a kind of a “judge-free zone” – within reason. What do I mean by that?
We must also know how to respond once they have shared with us how they are thinking or feeling. Do you know what to say?
H - Hear
O – Observe (ask questions)
P – Prayer
E – Encourage (sometimes using principles/promises)
