Psalms of Asaph

TRYING TO JUSTIFY MY LIFE WITH WHO GOD IS

5/26/2024

Text: Psalms of Asaph

Theme: God is holy, but doesn’t always do what we want or expect.

A Christian at times struggles to justify… an all-powerful God who loves me with an everlasting love Who allows me to struggle ... Why doesn’t He help me?

There are some Psalms written that make it appear that God will always deliver us from everything (Psa 91:1-11)

Holy men of God have been known to wrestle with God. Their “wrestling” though is not always due to a lack of faith – actually it is due to their faith.

Example: Habakkuk (1:2-4)

I. When what we see doesn’t appear to line up with what we believe

Passages that reveal this with Asaph (Psa 73:1, 2, 13, 14; 74:1, 10-13; 77:1-3; 80:4-6)

II. Correcting our vision… seeing through God’s point of view

Asaph had to correct how he was looking at things to by trying to see things from God’s perspective

Key passages: Psa 73:15-17; 77:5-11; 80:3, 14-19)
