Hebrews 9:6-15, 24; 10:1-12

When it came to worship and a Jewish person’s relationship with God, the priests and the prophets were vital. Also, vital to their relationship with God were the sacrifices and feasts.


When focusing on the sacrifices, you pick up pieces of information from various verses as to what God was truly looking for.

Key verses include: Lev 17:11; Psa 51:16, 17; Heb 9:6-15, 24; 10:1-12

Why did God require all of these sacrifices if He didn’t desire the shedding of blood?

They don’t understand the options – the life of an animal vs the life of mankind

They don’t see the seriousness of sin – God required a sacrifice for reconciliation

They don’t see the beauty of reconciliation with God


What was the purpose of all the sacrifices?

Show the seriousness of sin

Show the place of a substitute

Show the need of a Saviour

God sacrificed Christ for the world. Man didn’t take the life of Christ, but God gave His Son and Jesus Christ laid down His life
