THE SALVATION OF THE JEWS
12/1/2024-Sunday School
Lesson 7: The Jews and their Messiah
Text: Romans 3:29-4:10
Theme: How were the Old Testament people saved (primarily focusing on Jews)?
Israel was chosen to be God’s people – for God’s glory, and not for their salvation. He also chose them for bringing forth the Messiah (Deut 14:2)
How was a person in the Old Testament saved?
Can a person be saved outside of the work of Christ?
U Men have always been saved by believing what God had told them
What did the OT characters know and believe?
They believed in their own sinfulness (the law)
They believed in the coming of the Messiah (redeemer)
They believed that there was a connection between the two
Job 19:25 & 9:33
U Consider this, if an Old Testament Jewish person was saved by the law, then a New Testament Jewish person would also be saved by the law
Key passages in Romans: Rom 7:24, 25; 3:29, 30; 4:1-10
