Sermon 12: Living in Anticipation of the Coming of Christ
Text: 1 Thessalonians 5:4-11
Theme: The call to wake up and sober up as Christians.
Comfort – you will be part of the rapture (4:11-18)
Comfort – you will not be part of the day of the Lord (5:1-6)
Rev 3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
U Comfort cannot lead to complacency
I. Your darkness is past (vv. 4, 5)
The emphasis is that believers are different
II. Your duty is present (vv. 6-8)
Let us… - choice to make/potential/possibility
Watch and be sober – cautious/careful & circumspect/temperate/calm and collected
Since as believers we are different (vv. 4, 5) now live like you are different!
