Sermon 14: Living in Anticipation of the Coming of Christ
Text: 1 Thessalonians 5:11-15
Theme: Each Christian has responsibilities within the church.
Who is a pastor?
Elder
Overseer/one who cares
Pastor/shepherd/one who feeds
What does a pastor do? (vv. 12, 14)
I. You have responsibilities to the pastors (vv. 12, 13)
The church body is to pay attention and to give value to the pastor
Key verses: Heb. 13:7, 17
One of the great things about not being responsible for the size of a church, but it’s maturity – is that it gives you full freedom to speak the truth
Some of you are willing to leave that protection to just find a church that is going to satisfy your appetites!!!
II. You have responsibilities one to another (vv. 11-15)
Edify, be at peace, warn, comfort, support and be patient
