Sermon 7: How to have a Genuine Relationship with God
Text: Romans 5 & 6
Theme: It’s by the grace of God we are what we are!
Today, I want to focus on the relationship between God’s grace and your sin & your temptation to sin
I. God’s grace delivers you from the penalty of sin (5:1, 2)
Justification - technically justification is about God's declaration regarding the sinner and not any actual change within the sinner. God doesn't make us holy, but declares us forgiven
Great illustration of this grace: Zech 3:1-5
II. God’s grace delivers you from the power of sin (5:20, 21)
The great truth of the age of grace – God’s grace is to give you victory over sin, not just forgiveness…
God’s grace is to give you victory over sin, not permission to do what you want
The law brought revelation & defeat by sin; grace brought victory over & deliverance from sin
LET GRACE ABOUND!
LET GRACE REIGN!
